This is the book out there that describes what heart failure is and what can be done. Many useful things patients and families can do for themselves. A very complete and compassionate guide...extremely easy to read. Heart failure is the #1 cause of hospital visits by Americans!!! This is not a heart attack. If you or your family member has CHF or heart failure--get this book.

CHF Patient Bible Written for the Layman |

My mother was diagnosed with CHF and I immediately purchased this book for her. She considers it to be her bible and she consults it frequently. Without it, she would have entered into a serious illness alone guided only by her doctor. Now she has a chance to help herself through very difficult times and we her family can help her, too.

An absolute LIFE SAVER if ever there was one! |

I read this book at the suggestion of the CHF team at Loma Linda International Heart Institute. It gets down to the heart (no pun) of the terrifying affects of CHF and explains what the patient and doctor can do to effect a reduction of symptoms and, as in my case, an apparent complete cure. This book is so well written in layman's language that you can't put it down once you've started reading it. I was the typical patient described in the book who had been advised by my cardiologist to "make final arrangements" as there was no treatment for cardiomiopathy. Dr. Heywood and staff at Loma Linda led me through the process of returning to a normal quality of life, step by step, as outlined in the book. They explained the treatment proceedure thoroughly and I followed it through the pages of the book, gaining optimism with every page. I not only highly recommend this book but I feel it's a MUST READ for anyone suffering from cardiomopathy as well as their families.

My husband purchased this excellent book, after I was diagnosed with heart failure. I didn't know what to expect. Dr Silver's excellent, well-written book discussed many important aspects of heart failure in an easy to understand manner. This book provides both help & hope to those afflicted with Congestive Heart Failure. I highly recommend this informative book and reread it every chance I have.

I am a medical student at Loyola University and I also do research in Heart Failure. This fabulous book is consistent with everything else I know of Dr. Silver - it is both caring and extremely knowledgable. This book is a MUST HAVE for any patient or family dealing with a diagnosis of heart failure. It is writen in clear english and explains all aspects of this disease, its treatment and impacts on lives and families. "Success with Heart Failure" is not a "dumbed down" medical book. If anything it is "smartened up," with insights and practical information to go along with the often overwhelming vocabulary and litany of tests and treatment options. An enthusiastic two thumbs up!!
